So it was cold today.... So cold you could feel it in your feet through your shoes. Just plain cold. We got to the market a little early and set up. Memphis got to work handing out flyers and answering questions about what he is hoping to do. At that moment I drifted back to the much younger boy when he first started handing out flyers in front of the market. So shy he struggled to make eye contact and mumbled but a couple of words . And when not attempting engagement he was at best not focused. He was cute and wanted to help others. At this time I don't really think any of us could imagine where this would take us. Of the last 10 years of birthdays the Redwood Empire Food Bank has been the focus of 8 of them A rough tally of meals created to date puts him over the 90000 mark, this number is amazing. Memphis, with the help of all of you, has raised enough to but 3 meals a day, for a family of 4, for the next 20 years. That is simply amazing..... Thank you to all of you who have helped in the past and our planning on helping in the future... I can't imagine how much we can help Memphis accomplish in the next 8 years.
Guess what.... My 13th birthday is at the end of February, over the last 7 years we have celebrated my birthday by creating meals for the Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) and they distribute the meals out to those who need help in our community. Each year I raise my goal higher and every year I have passed that goal by a lot. We just went through my website posts and calculated my grand total. I have raised just over 90,000 meals! We can't believe it, I'm so excited because I know I'll break 100,000 meals this year. I'm really proud by that number.
Today was my first tabling day at Oliver's. It went really well. I gathered 224 lbs of food and 140 dollars. All together we have enough for 504 meals. Super Awesome day!! I also me a nice lady who has the same birthday as me.
